After a thorough check up, our pediatrician decided it was an internal problem and referred us to the GI clinic at our local Childrens Hopsital. Unfortunatly, they were booked until August. The pediatrician wanted me to make an appointment and advised me that if he vomited blood again, was acting lethargic or was very grouchy, to take him immediately to the ER.
Monday, June 14th was a horrible night. He would only sleep for 15 to 20 minutes here and there and usually when he did fall asleep, he would wake up screaming. When Darrel woke up Tuesday morning, he convinced an exhausted, teary eyed me that we needed to go to the doctor. Thinking it was related to the throwing up episode, I loaded K and myself in the car and headed into Salt Lake.
When I got to the ER, cute little K looked like he had been in a fight. His upper lip was huge.

After a painful ultrasound of the lip mass, they administered an IV. It only took two tries and four heating pads to bring out a decent vein. Poor kid, again. He finally crashed after they gave him some morphine.

We were able to meet three doctors, two nurses, a medical student and three ultrasound techs in the ER. All together they agreed to admit Keston overnight. When we got into our room, the doctor took a ball point pen and drew the outline of the infection to make sure it wasnt spreading.

They put him on two antiobiotics, one to stop the infection from spreading and one to kill the infection. By the end of Tuesday night, he still wasnt not sleeping well and was in a lot of pain.
